The Collector Strategy:
(Phase 1)
You’ll need to remove The Collector’s mask before you can harm him. Spray him with the slime sprayer right in the face/mask continuously. This will neutralize the black slime on his mask so you can rip it off.
Of course, you’ll need to do this while dodging his attacks. He has two attacks: one where he sends a black slime shock wave at you (very damaging), and another where he creates tornadoes that encircle him. Keep your distance, and dodge out of the way with B when he uses the shockwave.
(Phase 2)
When the black slime is neutralized, use the capture stream to grab his mask and then rip it off.
(Phase 3)
With his luminous eye exposed, you can now hurt The Collector. Aim right for his eye, using boson darts and the blast stream. You won’t need to capture The Collector at the end; you’re end-goal is to completely deplete his health, at which point he will be destroyed.
Doing this can be rather difficult, since his attacks are quite powerful, he moves pretty fast and your fellow Ghostbusters will get knocked out often. At a distance, The Collector is not much of a threat, so always try and keep a healthy distance between him and you. Up close, he’s very powerful and deadly.
Use the portals located throughout the battlefield to your advantage. If The Collector has you pinned down, or is getting a little too close for comfort, make a beeline for one of the portals. It will spit you out the opposite portal, facing the portal you entered.
This can also be useful when your teammates are knocked out. If you attempt to revive them right in front of The Collector, he’ll easily hit you and you’ll die. Instead, lure The Collector away from your downed comrades, and then run into a portal. You’ll emerge on the other side, and will hopefully have enough time to revive your teammates before The Collector turns around and closes the distance.
When in doubt, run into a portal! It can’t hurt, and it will give you some space from The Collector and a chance to reset.
When you’re not reviving your teammates, or running when The Collector gets too close, blast The Collector with boson darts in his eye. He’ll eventually fall.
