No More Halo For Bungie

The rumors that Bungie would no longer be working on titles for the Halo video game series began when Ensemble Studios started developing the RTS Halo Wars. Bungie Studios confirmed this week at Comic Con that they are indeed saying goodbye to the franchise that put them on the map ten years ago. Halo Reach, which was announced at E3 in June, will be the developer’s final hurrah before moving on to an entirely fresh, unannounced IP and a new publisher. Development of the Halo series will continue in the hands of 343 Industries, a Microsoft-owned game studio.

Halo Reach will be the fifth title in the Halo series and returns to the FPS roots of the franchise. The game is scheduled for release in Fall 2010. Players can currently earn themselves a slot in the multiplayer beta by purchasing a copy of Halo 3: ODST.
