About Us

DualWielder.com is a blog about playing video games. We want to rip open their innards, and make sweet posts out of their guts: gameplay, enemies, graphics, weapons, endings, glitches, unlockables, boss fights, etc. It’s a gameplay-centric collection of news, videos and feature articles. The idea sprung from the notion that video games are already something we enjoy so much, why gussy up the coverage with industry-speak, politics, and other crap? You know? We bring you information and insight about the industry’s most important titles, with a controller firmly grasped in hand. Here’s what that means:

There are regular posts with HD walkthrough videos, which show how to beat the hell out of games (for the completionist in us all). Check out our videos category for a full listing.

There’s also the occasional editorial review, full of snark and commentary. We pull no punches in telling you the story of a game’s epic failure, wild success, and everything in between. We tend to focus on how games actually play, their mechanics, features, how they grow and expand as you play, their possibilities and limitations, that kind of thing. Check out of the features section for all reviews.

Regular columns and philisophical-what-does-it-all-mean pieces are on the way, and will develop over time. One so far is “From some Asshole who Wasn’t There,” where we give roundups of video game industry events we did not attend. We hope to change the title, in time, to “From some Asshole who WAS There” (features category).

Finally, our news posts chronicle the full life cycle of games we find noteworthy–from the larva stage when they are first announced, to their maturation with gameplay updates, trailers and screenshots, through to their chest-bursting release. The news category is where all those posts live.

DualWielder.com was founded by Mark Burnham in 2009. Mark is a writer and video games person. From 2007-2009, he was the editorial director for Mahalo.com’s video games operation. Before that, he was the managing editor for Saturday Night Magazine, an entertainment rag based in LA. He also had a brief stint as a blogger for GamePro’s omgrpg.com.

There is a picture of Mark below, with the cast of Reno 911, for no apparent reason. The other gentlemen in the picture are pals, but do not work for DualWielder (yet…maybe Mark should ask them).
